Just in time for the 1st blush of spring comes a beguiling new lighting providing from Italian studio FontanaArte. Blom, a table lamp with a stylized tulip profile, is a creation of the Norwegian industrial designer Andreas Engesvik, who discovered inspiration for his design and style in “the shifting light and seasonal alterations of the Nordic nations.” Engesvik implies for Blom to be each a symbolic and literal interpretation of that shifting light, getting developed the lamp’s painted aluminum ‘petals’ to move about the axis of its base—permitting the glow from its sumptuous, milky-white bulb to be directed and diffused according to need. We really feel the winter blues lifting already.
