Carl Hansen & Søn, the Danish manufacturer of exalted Mid-Century furnishings designs by Hans J. Wegner, has a adopted a new visual identity to mark the 100th birthday of Wegner’s birth, and, fittingly, it leads back to Wegner himself. Turns out Wegner designed the firm’s logo back in 1950, a mark that was utilised by means of the 1980s, just before getting replaced by a much more generic mark.
In announcing the new identity final week, the firm known as the red and white typographical emblem “timeless,” and explained that “Wegner’s anniversary presents an perfect opportunity to reintroduce his original logo, reinforcing the sturdy ties which have connected Wegner with Carl Hansen & Søn more than the decades.”
