A Gold + Geometric Wedding Picture Me&u

Maria + Morne tied the knot at the knot at Arts on Main in Johannesburg. The couple, both designers, met during the Design Indaba in 2010. Maria was living in Stellenbosch at the time and Morne had come from Johannesburg to attend the conference. He came to town to visit a mutual friend who brought him along on a night out. After some very persistent conversation-starting on Morne’;s part they eventually began chatting. The rest, as they say, is history. After 3 years of long distance dating they got hitched!

The couple chose to design and make all the stationery and decor themselves. Maria’;s sister in law, who is a wonderful artist, made all the flower arrangements.

‘Canteen at Arts on Main has a very unique aesthetic, it is an industrial space, but it is also warm and earthy. We wanted some subtle decor that would fit in to the space organically without changing it. We both like muted colours and simple clean design and, combined with the inspiration from the industrial space, we arrived at a palette of beige, brown, navy blue, and a spot of gold. The decor was inspired by geometric shapes (we arrived at a triangle shape when making a logo from the first letter of our names – M), which we mixed up with organic wild flower arrangements. ‘
