Detroit Home Design Awards

The winners of the Detroit Home Design Awards were announced and we are proud to say that we brought home 3 of those awards!

The Hasserton won third in the Contemporary Architecture over 4,000 square feet category. This design is a sleek take on the waterfront home. This multi-level design exudes modern chic as well as the comfort of a family cottage.

The Laurel brought home first place for the Traditional Architecture Under 4,000 square feet category. This award winning design required a rigorous lesson in southern architectural vernacular. To take advantage of cross breezes, the home was designed with 3 covered porches. one partially covered courtyard, and one screened porch, all accessed by way of French doors and extra tall double-hung windows. 

The Heartsworth placed third in the Traditional Architecture over 4,000 square feet category. With a unique combination of stone, siding, and custom windows, this Craftsman-inspired design as plenty of charm.

Detroit Home Design Award Winners!

Last week Thursday, the ninth annual Detroit Home Magazine Design Awards Gala was held in Sterling Heights, Michigan to honor the best and brightest building and design professionals in the Detroit Metro area.  During the ceremony, held at the GM Heritage Center, 57 categories of awards were given out to the innovators and designers that are pushing the envelope in residential and commercial design.  Visbeen Architects was honored with three of these prestigious awards, including first place in Commercial Architecture for the design of AK Rikks, bringing our Detroit Home Design Award total to over 40 in the last seven years.

“The BALA winners have always shown that they are at the forefront of innovative design, and this year is no different,” said Skip Howes, 2012 design committee chair and president of Scott Homes Ltd. in Woodland Park, Colo. “We are proud to recognize these companies and individuals for their creative and forward-thinking approaches to their work.”

Now in its 29^thyear, BALA recognizes outstanding achievement by builders and design professionals in all sectors of the residential housing industry including single-family production, custom, rental, affordable, interiors, remodeling, community and international, based on the principle that good design is not, and should not be, limited to high-priced and/or custom homes.  Even the simplest, most affordable homes can receive an award if they showcase good design. 

Award winners were announced during a ceremony on January 23, 2013 at the annual NAHB International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas.

2011 Best in American Living Award Winners!

The Best in American Living Awards (BALA) has been a competition recognizing design excellence in the building industry for over 25 years. At the BALA awards ceremony this year (during the NAHB Inernational Builders' Show), 81 winners were honored for their innovation and creativity in 39 different categories, ranging from best custom and spec homes to best remodel and community designs. Visbeen Associates was awarded two BALAs, including a silver award for One-of-a-kind Custom Home up to 4,000 square feet.

At the American Residential Design Awards (ARDA) banquet, in conjunction with the American Institute of Building Design's 61st National Convention, held at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, MI, Visbeen Associates took home 8 awards, including 7 first places.
