Solo is a minimalist design created by Germany-based designer Nitzan Cohen, the former project leader of Konstantin Grcic Industrial Style. His studio was established in 2007, and focuses primarily on industrial merchandise, furnishings, and spaces. He was an early graduate of the prestigious style academy in Eindhoven, and is now a professor at the HBK Saar in Saarbrücken, and a going to professor at the HEAD, Genève.
Solo was commissioned by Mattiazzi, a loved ones-owned Italian organization focused on manufacturing high-top quality wooden furniture. The aim was to incorporate as much of Mattiazzi’s production approach into the design in order to develop a exclusive, yet price-powerful chair. Despite the fact that simplicity was an critical aspect of the project, the designers wanted flexibility in terms of each its use and the variations supplied.
The chair’s minimalism plays an aesthetic role, but more importantly, a functional function in maintaining price efficiency. A special feature of the chair is a leather inlay that is perfectly integrated in the seat’s surface, as nicely as a finely sewn leather upholstery for the chair’s backrest. The designers worked with local craftsmen in order to give the highest-good quality all-natural leather.
